Online backup (also known as offsite backup, Internet backup and remote backup) works by securely transmitting your business data to our Offsite Backup Servers via standard Internet connections. Communication is encrypted to the standards used by Internet banking services and stored with military grade encryption, making online backup arguably the most secure backup standard.
This system has the obvious advantage of securing data away from your premises thus protecting it from loss through fire or theft of equipment.

Backup Process You select the files to backup using our simple software interface. These files are then transmitted via a secure encrypted channel on the schedule you define. For the initial backup all files are sent which can take some time (2 – 3GB per day on standard broadband line). This can be sped up using a seed backup (see FAQ for more info). Subsequent backups are typically completed very quickly. Only parts of the parts of files changed are backed up e.g. a large Access database could be 100+ MB and a record could be changed. Using our backup software only the parts representing the change would be sent to the backup server offering a massive time saving.
Using our backup software a secondary local backup can also be configured to storage on your network or a locally attached external hard disk. This has the advantage of making restores very fast for most cases whilst your files are still protected offsite for the worst disasters.
Restore Process Restoring files is very easy through our online backup software interface. Simply select the file(s) to be restored and away you go. If you want to restore older files then just select a previous date from the drop down menu and make a selection.
If working on a system where our backup software isn’t installed; your files can be downloaded through a secure web interface. This has the added advantage of making your important files accessible to you wherever you go. Remember, none of your data can be accessed without your secret password (which you can change at will) and your encryption key.
Backup the Backup Your online backup will be held on at least 2 offsite backup servers. This means that your office data and 2 remote backup servers would need to fail at the same time before your data was risked.
Bulk Data Recovery In the event of complete loss e.g. your server is stolen, and you are backing up large amounts of data (30+GB), you can request your data on an external hard disk for next day delivery.
